CEO

South Sound Neurosurgery (SSN) has been a Northwest Computer Support client since 1999. Currently, NWCS manages SSN’s IT infrastructure, which includes 46 desktops, 9 servers, and 16 laptops. NWCS provides antivirus management, asset management, unlimited technical support, router management, plus Exchange and SQL support and service to SSN.

South Sound Neurosurgery (SSN) has offices in Tacoma, Puyallup, and Gig Harbor. At their comprehensive Brain and Spine Center in Puyallup, South Sound Neurosurgery provides patients with treatment in both the clinical and diagnostic phases of treating the debilitating pain that comes with back and neck problems. They offer a comprehensive range of interventional pain medicine and surgical services from minimally invasive surgery to pain relieving injections and spinal cord stimulation.

In addition, their Tacoma office is conveniently located near St. Joseph Medical Center and the new South Sound Gamma Knife center. SSN was instrumental in bringing this unique and non-invasive service for treating specific brain tumors, headaches from trigeminal neuralgia essential tremors, and vascular malformations, to the Pierce County area. Currently, there are only a little over one hundred Gamma Knife centers in the entire United States.

Their newest office in Gig Harbor, on the campus of St. Anthony’s Hospital, is electronically connected with their Puyallup and Tacoma offices, providing secure, coordinated care, and scheduling throughout their multiple locations.

Mr. Nakano is the Chief Executive Officer of SSN. He has 20+ years of health-care management experience and an extensive background in physician organizations and health insurance companies. He’s been with South Sound since 2003.

“Our Microsurgical Spine Center (MSC) in Puyallup is a patient favorite for quality and convenience. Instead of having to go to a hospital, we offer our patients a same-day surgery, and many of them go home in as little as 2 hours post surgery,” said Nakano.

The MSC earned the prestigious Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). In their pursuit of excellence, SSN maintains the same guidelines and best practices as hospitals. In some critical outcome measures, SSN surpasses what hospitals have been reporting, in terms of infection rates, cost, and return of work.

SSN has been utilizing the managed IT services of Northwest Computer Support (NWCS) since 1999. Nakano believes that Information Technology services are a mission critical item in the health care industry today because of the importance of having updated, secure and easily accessible patient data.

He said he appreciates Northwest Computer Support because they are “a complete IT solution”. He pointed out the importance of taking away the concern of “whose problem it is” and is relieved not to have to call several different people to find IT solutions or manage IT conflicts within his own organization.

Nakano emphasized, “In order to provide the best possible outcome to the patient and the best services to our community, we must constantly work to bring the patient, the doctor and the necessary clinical information into the same space at the right time. NWCS provides the IT support services that help us meet real-time challenges.”

Northwest Computer Support is proud to have a client like South Sound Neurosurgery who uses revolutionary medical technology, individualized care, and treats all of their patients like family.
